Silencing the Voices
Recycled collage/acrylic on Panel 24 x 24 x 1.5 Available
I was inspired by passing our recycling bin one day. My husband has the habit of tearing our junk mail in half before he throws it away. All the interacting squares of colors and patterns reminded me of a scrap basket used for quilts. Thus my "Remains of the Day" series was born.
These pieces consist of layers of junk mail and magazines from the recycling bin, along with paint and lots of sanding to create a sort of fabric of contemporary life. Patterns then are applied to create some order from the chaos.
This piece is on a 1.5” deep cradled panel. I leave the edges natural wood and sand and varnish them. They can be painted on request. They are wired and ready to hang.
